About this agency

The Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) has responsibility for devising and implementing a legislative strategy to carry out the Attorney General's initiatives requiring congressional action. OLA provides or arranges for testimony by Department witnesses at congressional hearings. OLA also responds or coordinates responses for the Department to requests and inquiries from congressional committees and subcommittees and individual Members of Congress and their staffs, including requests from Congress on behalf of constituents.
