About this agency
The National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence is a Commission created by Congress to consider the methods and means necessary to advance the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and associated technologies to comprehensively address the national security and defense needs of the United States. The Commission was established on August 13, 2018 and launched in March 2019. The Commission publicly released an Initial Report in July 2019 and an Interim Report in November 2019. We will publish our Final Report, complete with policy recommendations and legislative proposals, by March 2021. Our work will conclude by October 1, 2021. The Commission is comprised of 15 commissioners who bring together diverse experiences from service in the government, academia, and industry.
