About this agency
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is responsible for the care and confinement of offenders who are committed to its custody. The Bureau maintains records on current and former inmates of federal penal and correctional institutions concerning: sentence computation, institutions of confinement, criminal, social, educational, and occupational background, identification data, institutional work and housing assignments, educational, disciplinary, health, and work data during incarceration, and reports relating to release planning, furlough, institutional adjustment, and violations of release.
