About this agency

INTERPOL Washington, the United States National Central Bureau (USNCB), serves as the designated representative of the United States to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) on behalf of the U.S. Attorney General. The USNCB is the official U.S. point of contact for U.S. law enforcement officials for all INTERPOL matters and communications.  The USNCB provides communications resources, law enforcement databases, and criminal investigative and humanitarian assistance to federal, state, local, and tribal officials of the United States and police officials of other INTERPOL member countries.  The USNCB is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and is co-managed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding between the Departments. More information about the USNCB can be found at our website, http://www.justice.gov/interpol-washington . Please take the following additional factors into consideration when requesting information from the USNCB: •USNCB files contain messages transmitted between foreign police and U.S. law enforcement authorities in criminal investigative matters. •USNCB also maintains administrative files. •USNCB retrieves information from its files primarily by a person's complete name, date of birth, and place of birth. These data elements are usually essential for a search of USNCB records. •USNCB searches only its own records to respond to FOIA requests. No arrangement for searches of files in foreign countries will be conducted. Please be advised that the USNCB will only respond to FOIA requests received via the National FOIA Portal, including requests made by email, postal mail, or fax for Agency records at the below number or email address. The USNCB will not respond to requests from private citizens for police or investigative assistance, or answer questions unrelated to a FOIA matter. FOIA Reference Guide FOIA Regulations
